The Ten Commandments Rewritten

Posted by Mischief, June 4, 2009

The The Sims 3 launches in the UK tomorrow and to mark the occasion we've worked with our client EA to rewrite the Ten Commandments, reflecting the idea that the game allows users to 'play God' and make decisions on the lives and moral conduct of the characters they create.

We started by asking Brits which of the Ten Commandments were in and which were out. We found that six were still seen as relevant to society today but that four were viewed as outdated and archaic. These four were replaced with common themes suggested by the British public who focused on tackling greed (Parliament take note), saving the planet, respecting one another and stamping out terrorism.

Once we had the new set of commandments, we worked on the language to ensure that both adults and kids could understand what they meant and then recreated the limestone tablets that Moses brought down from the mountain.

A Moses-like figure was then recruited to deliver the tablets to Parliament. Here he is in all his glory. Thy will be done.
