Welcome to 'The Late Debate', a story from esure home insurance, which is all over the papers today.

Our study for esure shows that just seven per cent of employers actually trust the reasons their staff give for not being on time for work. It also revealed that we regularly blame problems at home for our lateness, with some of the worst excuses including not being able to shut a window, getting locked in or out of the house and flooding from washing machines.

We're picturing panicked commuter faces this morning as they read the news in papers including Daily Express, Metro and Daily Telegraph.
