As the Official Host Airport for the London 2012 Olympics, Heathrow is preparing for the busiest period in its history with passenger numbers expected to peak at 240,000 a day around the opening and closing ceremonies.

The Heathrow team is flying high today after securing a double page feature in today’s Metro on how Heathrow plans to successfully manage the huge number of extra visitors. We took the Metro behind the scenes to look at the likes of Air Traffic and Baggage Control, as well as cool technology with the FOD radar, which alerts airside operations to any rogue or suspicious item on the runway.
