This Girl Can Goes International

July 28, 2017 / This Girl Can

Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign has helped 2.8million English women get active to date - but why stop there?

This Girl Can this week launched its first international partnership with VicHealth, which will feature real Aussie women in their own campaign to help others manage the fear of judgement which can stop women from exercising.

Sport England CEO, Jennie Price, said: “Australian women face the same barriers to being active as English women – whether that’s worrying about how they look when they exercise, that they aren’t skilled enough to exercise or that they should be prioritising their family or work over activities.”

This fear of judgement affects Australian women as much as women here in the UK - in Victoria, more than 41 per cent of women over 25 are too embarrassed to exercise in public, with one in five doing no physical activity in a typical week.

In the UK, the news was covered in The Guardian, MSN.com and Campaign and in Australia press the story was covered by 9news and ABC
