Channel 4 — Gig of the Dump
To echo the central message of the eco-reality TV show – that people throw away 434 tonnes of rubbish each year, which can actually be reused – we sourced and briefed inventors to make “rubbish” instruments made entirely from junk. Eight members of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra were recruited (and convinced) to play their most unusual recital ever – on top of an east London rubbish dump.
The unique recital – of Elgar’s Land of Hope & Glory – was filmed and cut into a short mpeg film, which was seeded on video-sharing sites to extend the coverage reach online.
